The UN Complex Gigiri

About This Project

The United Nations Complex in Gigiri, Nairobi established in 1996 houses several key UN installations such as the global headquarters of the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) and the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat) and is a vital part of facilitating the global United Nations agenda.
The Complex had a legacy infrastructure that affected service delivery, especially with regard to the numerous conferences, workshops, and seminars that often involved participants from all over the world.

Wilken upgraded the entire network infrastructure, including fiber and structured cabling across the campus. This facilitates the UN complex to host major conferences with global participation on a network that is fast, reliable, and secure. In 2004 the UN Security Council held a rare session in Nairobi to discuss the armed conflict in South Sudan. Wilken manages the network with an on-site team of dedicated experts that provide support for any emerging network-related issues.

Through our ICT platform, the LTWP turbines are efficiently monitored and controlled from the Netherlands and in Europe reducing greatly the manpower needed on site and costs of maintenance.
